MANCHESTER — Chabot-McDonough Field was bathed in a sea of blue and red minutes after last year's game between city rivals Memorial and Central. The Crusaders had rallied from 11 points down over the final seven minutes to upset the Little Green and effectively end Central's chances of making the Division I football playoffs.

Memorial players and their fans celebrated wildly; Crusaders coach Peter Colcord called it the biggest win of his life.

The scene was completely different Saturday.

The Little Green returned to exact their revenge and they did it with a cold-blooded precision, scoring on their first four drives as they rolled to a 42-13 win.

Central coach Ryan Ray said he talked to his team about last year's late game collapse against the Crusaders and the need to close out teams. His players were apparently listening.

The Little Green (4-1, 3-1) made the Crusaders (2-3, 1-3) pay for turning the ball over on their first two possessions as they built a 26-6 lead 10 minutes into the second quarter. And they made sure there would be no comeback for the Crusaders by giving up just 26 yards and one first down on Memorial's next three possessions.

By the time Memorial crossed midfield again on Pierre Noel's 48-yard kickoff return late in the third quarter, Central was ahead 42-6 and Colcord admitted his players had hung their heads after falling behind by so much so quickly.

The Little Green used the big play to demoralize the Crusaders, ripping off 10 plays of 15 or more yards. Junior quarterback Riley Cote opened the game by completing his first seven passes, including touchdown tosses of 30 yards to Troy Pelletier and 25 yards to Abe Madra.

Cote, who also threw a five-yard scoring toss to Jeme Aguilar and a 12-yard pass to Pelletier in the third quarter, finished the 13-for-23 for 201 yards and four touchdowns.

Running back Hector Velez did his part by rushing for 137 yards on 13 carries. He ran for touchdowns of 40 and 9 yards, easily carrying a full load with the team's other tailback, junior David Weekly, out sick.

Junior quarterback Stephen Deane threw touchdown passes of 12 yards to Deon Ball in the first quarter and 52 yards to Pierre in the fourth.
