Power Poll: Winnacunnet hangs on to top spot
Winnacunnet's reign atop the New Hampshire Union Leader/WGIR/WMUR Power Poll could have ended after one week, but in holding off rival Dover, 31-24 in double-overtime, the Warriors remained a unanimous pick for the No. 1 ranking among the state's high school football tems.
With seven of the poll's eight judges voting, Winnacunnet (5-0) received every first-place vote for the second straight week. Exeter and Pinkerton Academy of Derry, both 4-1, remained at Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, while Bedford, another 4-1 squad, moved up a spot to No. 4 on the strength of its 27-13 victory over previously No. 4 Bishop Guertin of Nashua. BG (3-2) dropped to seventh, trailing No. 5 Manchester Central and No. 6 Keene, both at 4-1.
Rounding out the top 10 are Nashua South (3-2, eighth), Concord (4-1, ninth) and Souhegan of Amherst (4-1, 10th).
Plymouth (5-0), Portsmouth (3-1) and Milford (4-1) also received votes.
