Ex-President Clinton at UNH for Obama

Former President Bill Clinton is headed back to college this week when he headlines a campaign event at The Field House at the University of New Hampshire.

Clinton will be at the UNH gathering Wednesday to promote President Barack Obama. Clinton’s remarks will focus on the economy and argue for Obama’s vision to create a stronger economy. Doors open at noon.

Police seek driver of stolen merchandise

Police are searching for the man with a truck full of stolen goods who ran away after he crashed that truck into another vehicle Saturday night.

Rochester police say the man crashed a 1996 Dodge Ram pickup truck into a 2010 Ford Explorer operated by Hasan Akisk, 49, of Watertown, Mass., at 9:47 p.m. Saturday at the Globe Plaza on North Main Street. Akisk was stopped at the plaza waiting to exit when the Dodge went off the road and hit his vehicle, according to police.

The Dodge driver got out of the truck and headed off into the woods, police said. A search of the area that included a search dog did not turn up the man. The Dodge contained stolen merchandise, according to police. The truck has been impounded.

Akisk suffered minor injuries, but did not require an ambulance.

Police ask anyone with information on the accident, or the identity of the Dodge driver, to call the Rochester Police Department at 330-7128, the Rochester Crime Line at (603) 335-6500, or text CRIMES (274637). Cash rewards are offered for information that leads to an arrest.

Friends of Lakeway is co-op’s Oct. partner

The Littleton Food Co-op has named the Friends of Lakeway organization its October Partner of the Month, the Co-op said in a release.

Friends of Lakeway, the parent group for Lakeway Elementary School, raises money for supplemental educational materials and programs. It will receive all donations collected at the co-op’s checkout canisters through October, as well as $1 from every pizza sold during Pizza and a Partner Night from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 12, the release said.

The co-op developed its Partner program in the spring of 2009 as a way to work with other community non-profit groups to raise funds and awareness.
