Police: Nashua man choked, kicked unconscious woman
NASHUA — A man is accused of choking a woman until she lost consciousness and then kicking her in the face and torso as she lay unconscious on a Whitney Street sidewalk.
Kurt Schaitel, 47, of 35 Norton St., Apt. B, was arrested a short time later after the incident at his apartment. He is charged with domestic-related, second-degree assault and four counts of simple assault.
Police said the beating happened about 5:45 p.m. Monday. Lt. Michael Moushegian said the couple were in a car when they began to argue. The woman got out and Schaitel followed her.
Police said he grabbed the woman and choked her until she lost consciousness. Witnesses told police they saw him kicking her in the face and torso as she lay unconscious on the ground. Police said he fled the scene but was found later at his apartment and arrested.
The woman was taken to Southern New Hampshire Medical Center where she was treated and released.
