Exeter boys blank Memorial booters

Exeter head coach Jim Tufts doesn't give out compliments unless he really means it. Following his team's 1-0 Division I boys' soccer victory yesterday in Manchester, he had some encouraging words for a struggling 2-8 Memorial squad.

Peter Eisenhaure received a cross pass that went over Memorial goalie Gary Archaubault and found the open net for the only score. Exeter goalie Tom Wolters had five saves for the shutout as the Blue Hawks (8-4) look ahead to Friday's contest against the Owls at Bill Ball Stadium.

Derryfield 6, Concord Christian 0: Austin Hammer scored twice and assisted on another goal for Derryfield. Tariq Omer, Griffin Phaneuf and Hammer all scored in the first half for the 10-1 Cougars. Concord Christian dropped to 0-12.

Londonderry 1, Alvirne 0: The Lancers stayed unbeaten at 11-0-0 with a 1-0 win at Alvirne of Hudson (2-5-2). Austin Lockwood scored the lone goal in the 49th minute, converting a feed from Anthony Ferrara for the winner. Bobby Krause made six saves for the shutout.

Timberlane 4, Concord 1: The Crimson Tide's Thomas Ransom scored the first goal in the 10th minute, and host Timberlane of Plaistow answered with four straight goals in the Division I victory.

Manchester Central 1, Salem 0:In Manchester, in the 49th minute Keegan LaBerge scored the only goal. His header came off a cross from senior Selim Salihovic. LaBerge leads the team with 10 goals including three game-winners. Central goalie Noah Edmunds collected his second shutout of the season with three saves. Salem goalie Andrew Zani turned back eight saves. Central is 8-3-1 while Salem falls to 3-5-1.

Girls' soccer

Derryfield 3, Concord Christian 0: At home in Manchester, Derryfield School improved to 9-1-0. Chloe Warner scored two goals and assisted on the third and Hannah Menakaya scored a goal and added an assist. Cam Huftalen made seven saves for the shutout. Concord Christian fell to 1-10.

Manchester Central 1, Salem 0 (OT): In Salem, junior Emily Duchesne's first career varsity goal was a memorable one because it was the game-winner. She collected a corner kick from senior Colbie Cookson and headed home a six-yard shot past Salem goalie Rachel Blazick, who finished with 18 saves. In marks the fifth overtime game for Central (3-0-2) which is 6-3-2 on the season. Salem is now 1-9-1, getting just four shots on net against keeper Gabby Desjardins.

Campbell 6, Conant 0:Casey Mellen scored two goals and added an assist and sisters Olivia and Syndey Crema added a goal each to lead host Campbell (8-3-0) of Litchfield past visiting Conant (0-8-2)of Jaffrey.

Bishop Guertin 2, Nashua South 1 (OT):Averi Farhat scored in overtime to lift Bishop Guertin (4-4-1). Farhat scored BG's other goal. Sena Oran notched the South (5-6-0) goal.

Field hockey

Goffstown 2, Lebanon 2 (OT): Tori Florence and Megan Dodd scored for the Grizzlies (4-7-1) while Lebanon (8-0-1) got tallies from Megan Willeman and Amelia Gage.

Milford 3, Hollis-Brookline 1: Morgan Andrews scored three goals to lead Milford (7-3-1) past visiting Hollis-Brookline (4-4-1).
