RYE — The New Hampshire Preservation Alliance invites to public to join members for a barn preservation workshop and tour on Saturday, Oct. 13.

Timber framer Ian Blackman will lead an exploration of the Goss Barn, focusing on framing issues and roof repairs. The early 19th century barn, listed on the New Hampshire State Register of Historic Places, is being restored as part of an effort to transform the Goss Farm into a community farm, with a farm stand and program space in the barn.

After the morning workshop and lunch, participants will be escorted on a guided tour of two other historic barns in Rye. There will be a question-and-answer period with Blackman. The workshop and tour run from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Reservations are required. Call the Alliance at 224-2281 for reservations. Admission is $35 for members and $45 for nonmembers. A membership special, a workshop with a one-year membership, is $55. Lunch is included. The event will be held rain or shine. The barn is located on a 10-acre, town-owned site on Harbor Road.
