Joseph W. McQuaid: Pitiful and pathetic, part two

Three weeks ago in this space, we noted President Obama's “pitiful and pathetic'' performance. After watching Wednesday night's debate, we can only say “ditto.''

The earlier observation was for the Obama team's weak-kneed response to the Sept. 11 murder of American diplomats in Libya. It turns out that response, blaming (and apologizing for) a stupid movie, was either a calculated cover-up or a colossal security collapse. In fact, the evidence then and now points to planned al Qaida terrorism against the United States.

On Wednesday night, the President continued to show disdain for the facts and disinterest in even defending his record.

Instead, he acted as if the last four years of wasted federal spending and high unemployment meant nothing, but give him four more years and he would see what he could do. He looked like a man who wasn't enjoying himself. Now he knows how much of the country feels.
