Fleeing Concord traffic stop, Northfield woman strikes trooper with van

CONCORD — A Northfield woman was arrested Saturday night after striking a state trooper with her car while fleeing a traffic stop.

According to police, New Hampshire State Police Sgt. William Graham stopped a Dodge Caravan operated by Angel Smith, 32, of Northfield, on South Street in Concord, for allegedly making an illegal turn at a red light. Smith was unable to produce a license, and Graham determined she gave a false name and date of birth.

When Graham confronted her, police say she accelerated away from him, hitting Graham with a mirror and the side of her van. Graham, who was not injured, pursued her.

Smith’s Caravan jumped a curb at the intersection of South and Monroe streets, and she fled on foot. Graham and State Trooper Stanley Dombrowski caught her in the backyard of a South Street residence.

Smith was arrested and charged with felony reckless conduct, disobeying an officer, resisting arrest, and reckless driving. She was released on bail and is scheduled to appear in Concord District Court on Dec. 10.

Shaun White, 33, of Concord, a passenger in Smith’s vehicle, was arrested by Concord police on an outstanding warrant.
