Dartmouth student killed in highway crash in Vermont
HARTFORD, Vt. — A Dartmouth College student was killed in a highway crash involving two vehicles in Vermont early Saturday.
Vermont state police are investigating the death of Mikhail Lomakin, 24, of Norwich, who was hit by two cars on Interstate 91 at 2:24 a.m. Saturday in Hartford. Police said both drivers involved in the crash said they thought Lomakin was an animal in the road, blaming heavy rain and fog as factors in the collision. Police said Lomakin was a pedestrian at the time of the accident, but further details were unavailable.
The Dartmouth College student newspaper, The Dartmouth, reported that a campus-wide email from Interim College President Carol Folt identified Lomakin as a first-year physics graduate student.
