Keene State College harrier fifth in class at cross-country regionals

Junior Chris Plankey of Bristol and senior Maggie Fitter were the first finishers for the Keene State College women's and men's cross country teams at the New England Championships in Westfield, Mass., Sunday.

Plankey was the leading man for the Owls for the first time this season. He placed 89th overall, navigating the 8-kilometer course in 25 minutes, 51 seconds. Fitter finished 45th overall but was sixth among Division III runners, covering the 5k course in 18:21.

For the University of New Hampshire, John Prizzi placed 67th overall, completing the course in 25:35.38.

Junior Julia Credendino of UNH placed 67th overall in the women's field. She completed the 5-kilometer course in 18:37.15, while freshman McKenzie Haney of Penacook placed 77th at 18:40.89. Meagan Boucher of Manchester finished 96th in 18:53.55.

Men's soccer

Elms 1, Colby-Sawyer 1 (2OT):
In Chicopee, Mass., Colby-Sawyer College's Carlton Wheeler-Omiunu found the back of the net early in the second period, which led to a 1-1 double overtime draw.

Women's soccer

Franklin Pierce 0, Queens College 0:
In Flushing, N.Y., Katie Weldon of Manchester stopped four shots for Franklin Pierce, 6-4-2 overall.

Field hockey

Manhattanville 9, Rivier 2:
In Nashua, Rivier received second-half goals from sophomore Presleigh Skelley of Wolfeboro and Kate Adinolfo of Manchester to avoid the shutout. Rivier is 2-12 overall, 0-7 in the NAC.

Virginia 7, UNH 0: In Charlottesville, Va., Carlie Tarbell recorded a career-high 12 saves against No. 5 Virginia for No. 19 UNH, now 6-6.

North Carolina 6, Dartmouth 0: In Newton, Mass., Dartmouth's run of five straight wins came to an end. The Big Green falls to 6-5.

Women's tennis

Adelphi 9, Franklin Pierce 0:
In Garden City, N.Y., Franklin Pierce fell to 0-5 in the Northeast-10.

Southern New Hampshire University 9, Le Moyne 0: In Syracuse, N.Y., in the No. 1 singles position, Alena Mukdaprakorn defeated Rebecca Black, 6-0, 6-2.

Men's tennis

Adelphi 9, Franklin Pierce 0:
In Garden City, N.Y., Franklin Pierce fell to 1-4 (0-4 Northeast-10).
