Union endorses Barry for Hillsborough County sheriff
MANCHESTER — The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3657 announced its endorsement of Democrat Bill Barry in his race for Hillsborough County sheriff.
Barry, who retired from the sheriff’s department last year after 26 years, is trying to unseat Republican Jim Hardy of Pelham, who is in his 10th year as sheriff and who has been with the office for 31 years.
Local 3657 is the state’s largest public safety union, representing 21 agencies and about 450 members across the state in police and fire departments, sheriff’s departments and the county’s Department of Corrections.
