Police rope off Prescott Park, Peirce Island in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH - Police have set up and roped off all of Prescott Park along the Piscataqua River yellow police tape, including Mechanic Street, which leads to Peirce Island, is blocked off.

Police at the scene will not confirm multiple reports of a body found on the island. Portsmouth police along with State Police began responding to the island around 8 p.m., police said.

Associate Attorney General Jane Young would not confirm reports of a body found on the island and whether it was possibly linked to the disappearance of UNH sophomore Elizabeth Marriott.
