Benjamin scores 5 TDs in Goffstown's big win

Senior quarterback Connor Benjamin ran for 259 yards and five touchdowns in the first half to lead the Goffstown High School football team to a 39-14 triumph over Alvirne on Saturday.
Benjamin ran for 178 yards and four touchdowns and also threw a touchdown pass in the first quarter. Paul Teixeira had two interceptions in the victory.
“Connor had some fire in his eyes today,” Goffstown coach Justin Hufft said. “It was our Homecoming. He was itching to go, and it showed.
“Defensively, it was the first time we showed up and played well as a unit all year. Hopefully we're improving there.”
Division III
ConVal 24, Hollis/Brookline 7: At Hollis, Jeremy Doubleday returned a fumble 20 yards for a touchdown and kicked a 40-yard field goal as ConVal improved its record to 2-5 overall and 1-5 in Division III.
ConVal's other TDs came on Chris Queen's 60-yard interception return, and a 1-yard run by Ben Edes. Hollis/Brookline fell to 1-6 overall and 1-4 in the division.
Division IV
Laconia 33, John Stark 13: At Weare, David Mahoney rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries in his first game back from a knee injury to help the Sachems raise their Division IV record to 2-5.
Mahoney, who suffered a knee injury against Hanover in the second game of the season, had TD runs of 7 and 49 yards. John Stark, which trailed 26-0 at halftime, dropped to 1-6. Windham 51, Kennett 0: At Windham, Running back Kevin Cooney rushed for two touchdowns and quarterback Joe Lorenz tossed two TD passes as Windham secured a Division IV playoff spot.
Windham improved its record to 6-1. The loss dropped Kennett's record to 3-4.
Division V
Monadnock 32, Sanborn 7: At Kingston, Monadnock rushed for 323 yards on 56 carries and extended its winning streak to five games.
Drew Bolewski led the way with 118 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries as the Huskies improved to 5-1. Sanborn, which was held to 94 yards of offense, dropped to 3-4.
Division VI
Newport 54, Raymond 6: At Newport, Devin Wade and Gunter Hubert each scored twice for the Tigers. C.J. Morris, Matt Tremblay, Jason Teeter and Zach Whelan also found the end zone for Newport, which improved to 3-4. Raymond is 0-7.
Mascoma 43, Newfound 7: At Canaan, Spencer Pierce scored three touchdowns and passed the 1,000-yard mark in rushing as Mascoma improved to 5-2. Newfound fell to 6-1.
Non-league
Pembroke 22, Merrimack 6: At Pembroke, Zach Wiggin rushed for two touchdowns and Ben Paradise ran for another as Pembroke improved to 3-3 overall (2-3 in Division III). Merrimack slipped to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the division.
