Obama to speak in Veterans Park in Manchester Thursday

MANCHESTER — President Barack Obama will make his fifth visit of the year to New Hampshire on Thursday with an appearance in Veterans Park in Manchester.

Obama is expected to give a campaign speech at Veterans Memorial Park, located at the intersection of Elm and Merrimack streets. While the public will be allowed into the park beginning at 9 a.m., as of Sunday night organizers said they did not know the exact time the President is expected to speak.

Organizers said on-street parking would be available, as well as at various public lots in downtown Manchester, but stress that carpooling and public transit are strongly encouraged.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required for entrance to the park.

One ticket per person will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis beginning today at 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., and again tomorrow from 8 am to 8 p.m. To pick up a ticket, interested parties should visit an Obama campaign office.

On the same day Obama appears in Manchester, his 2008 presidential foe, Arizona Sen. John McCain, is due to campaign in Nashua at a fundraiser for Republican candidate for governor Ovide Lamontagne.
