NHIAA Roundup: Pinkerton boys surge past Merrimack

Devin Moore’s second-half goal broke a tie game, lifting visiting Pinkerton of Derry past Merrimack, 3-1, on Monday.

The Astros improved to 10-5 in Division I. Pinkerton’s Tommy Martin scored the game’s first goal, and Merrimack answered with a tally by Mike Conlin. Tim Wood wrapped up the scoring for the Astros. Merrimack fell to 6-7-1.

Hanover 6, Concord 0: Daniel Hazlett extended his scoring streak to five games with two goals as Hanover past visiting Concord.

Hazlett has 11 goals on the season and teammate Rocco Linehan has 10 after he extended his goal scoring streak to four straight games. His last four goals are all headers, a rare feat in soccer.

Jonas Taenzer added one goal and two assists, padding his assist total to 10 while Xavier Tchana and Liam Gantrish each had one goal. Hanover (12-2) won its fifth straight game and is locked into third place. Concord falls to 2-11-1.

Memorial 0, Winnacunnet 0 (2OT): In Manchester, Memorial goalie Gary Archaubault stopped eight shots including a second-half penalty kick. Memorial is now 2-11-1; the tie came against the Warriors (9-4-1), who are trying to get into a top four berth. Winnacunnet goalie Mark Caunter stopped six shots.

Londonderry 8, Nashua South 1: At Londonderry, Rob Hart and Dylan Holland scored 21 seconds apart to spark the Lancers in an explosive first half. Nate Gaw scored twice before the end of the half as Londonderry (13-1) took a 6-0 lead. Oisein McKenna scored for Nashua South, which dropped to 0-15.

Derryfield 3, Monadnock 1: At Manchester, Noah Goldenstein’s goal snapped a tie game, and Jared Schoneberger scored at the end of the first half as Derryfield of Manchester took control. Matt Milne opened the scoring for Derryfield (13-2), and Monadnock of Swanzey answered with a goal by Matt George. The Huskies moved to 5-9.

Bedford 1, Keene 0: At Keene, senior Sean Purcell scored the first goal of his varsity career as Bedford (14-0) stayed unbeaten with a solid all-around performance. Casey Schehl assisted Purcell in the 79th minute, and Bedford goalie Taylor Wallace had five saves in the shutout.

Girls’ soccer

Sunapee 2, Stevens 0:
At Sunapee, the Lakers stayed unbeaten (13-0-1) as Rylee Weinstein and Abby Armstrong scored goals. Armstrong scored on a header from Rose Webb at the end of the first half. Stevens of Claremont dropped to 5-7-3.

Hollis/Brookline 2, Oyster River 1 (OT): At Hollis, Kashka Gammon scored the game winner in the 98th minute as Oyster River of Durham posted an impressive road win. Hannah Modelski assisted Gammon for both Hollis/Brookline goals. Megan Comeau scored for Oyster River (12-2). The Cavaliers improved to 8-5-1.

Londonderry 3, Nashua South 1: In Nashua, first-half goals from Kristen Bourque and Emily Crocetti were enough to turn back South. Kayleen Walberg of Londonderry scored in the second half while Lauren Smith had Nashua’s lone goal.

Londonderry improved to 13-2 and South falls to 7-7.
