College Sports Roundup: SNHU, St. A women tie

The Southern New Hampshire women’s soccer team extended its unbeaten streak to seven games with a 1-1 tie against rival St. Anselm on Tuesday night at SNHU’s Larkin Field.

The Penmen are 9-3-3 overall, 7-3-3 in the NE-10.

The Hawks are 3-7-4 and 2-6-4 in the league.

The Penmen outshot the Hawks, 28-4, but only had one goal to show for the effort.

The Hawks led 7:28 into the game on Kaitlin Oldfield’s seventh season goal. SNHU recorded the equalizer in the 68th minute on a corner kick as Kaleigh Roberge of Manchester played a short corner kick to Ashley Jaskula. Emily Mongeau headed the ball off a Hawk defender for her first collegiate goal.

Franklin Pierce 2, UMass-Lowell 1: Franklin Pierce won its second-straight match, over UMass-Lowell at Sodexo Field in Rindge on Tuesday.

The Ravens improved to 8-5-2 overall and 7-5-1 in the Northeast-10. FPU was led by first-half goals by Talita Pereira and Aya Noguchi.

Southern Vermont 5, Daniel Webster 0: In Nashua, Erin Student notched two goals and assisted on another goal.

DWC dropped to 1-9 overall (0-5 NECC).

Women’s tennis
Plymouth State 5, Rhode Island College 2: In Plymouth, senior Sara Burke won matches at No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles as the Panthers won in the first round of the 2012 Little East Conference Women’s Tennis Tournament.

Freshman Andra Dion of Ashland was also a double-winner for PSU, which improves to 8-6 overall.
