MANCHESTER - A Manchester police officer and a Hudson woman were taken to the hospital following a crash Tuesday night on Interstate-93 South near Exit 6.

According to state police, about 7 p.m. a 2011 Mazda 3 operated by David Connare, a Manchester police officer, collided just south of Exit 6 with a 2009 Mazda Tribute being driven by Heather Oregan of Hudson.

Both drivers were taken to the Elliot Hospital for treatment of injuries that state police described as not life-threatening. They were later released.

Connare is president of the Manchester Police Patrolman's Association, the union representing patrol officers.

The New Hampshire State Police accident reconstruction unit was called to the scene to assist in the investigation, according to a state police news release. The highway was closed for about 20 minutes as a result of the investigation.

State police, state DOT officials and members of the Manchester Fire Department helped out in rerouting traffic to alleviate backup.

Trooper Lawrence Lundt of Troop B is in charge of the investigation. Anyone with information concerning the accident is asked to call state police dispatch at 223-4381.
