NHIAA Roundup: Bedford boys' soccer team locks up No. 1 seed
Anders Holt scored in the fifth minute, and the Bedford boys’ soccer team secured the top spot in Division I with a 1-0 home victory against Timberlane of Plaistow on Wednesday.
Bedford peppered Timberlane goalie Thomas Sullivan with 14 shots, but Holt, on an assist from Marco Ibanez, was the only Bulldog to find the back of the net. Taylor Wallace had seven saves as Bedford improved to 15-0. The Owls dropped to 8-5-3.
Boys’ soccer
Hanover 4, Exeter 1: Visiting Hanover improved to 13-2, winning its sixth straight and 10th out of the last 11 games. Hanover got goals from Ian Strohbehn, Jonas Taenzer, Xavier Tchana and Brendan Barth. Exeter (11-5) was led by a goal from Austin Kimball.
Goffstown 3, Pembroke 2 (OT): Riley Ellis scored in the 95th minute to push the host Grizzlies (10-5) to victory. Goffstown also got two goals from Ryan Sharby. Pembroke (9-6) was led by goals from Austin Sartwell and Aaron Locke.
Manchester West 3, John Stark 1: Thiago Carvalho scored two goals and Lucas Schlickman added another to pace West (5-9). Stark (6-9) got its goal from Brandon Dugay.
Girls’ soccer
Goffstown 2, Pembroke 0: At Pembroke, Kelsey Benson scored twice for the visiting Grizzlies, who improved to 12-2-1. Bri Turcotte and Michele Tremblay assisted Benson. Leandra Nault made six saves in the shutout. Pembroke’s Kristin Kezar made eight saves. The Spartans are now 3-12-1.
Sunapee 3, Wilton-Lyndeborough 2 (OT): Abby Armstrong scored in overtime to lift Sunapee to the win. Armstrong had tied the game on a penalty kick late in the second half.
