CHaD benefit races scheduled for Sunday

The Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock (CHaD) hosts its seventh annual “Hero Half Marathon & Ripcord 5K” on Sunday, All proceeds benefit services and programs at CHaD.

CHaD’s event is open to participants of all ages and abilities. It begins at 11:30 a.m. with Cam’s Course, a one-mile family fun run around Dartmouth College Campus. The main event starts at noon; runners and walkers will be released simultaneously onto the course. The half-marathon provides a challenging USATF-certified course that sweeps through New Hampshire and Vermont. The Ripcord 5K run gives runners who are unable to finish the 13.1 miles the option of turning around at the 5K marker.

In addition to various running and walking activities, the day will include a free “Rockin’ Kid Zone” with Olympian skier Hannah Kearney, on-stage performances by Steve Elci & Friends, Junk 2 Funk and Bramble Jam.

A book reading and signing by “Save the World Before Bedtime” featuring authors Josh Chalmers, Mark Kimball Moulton and Karen Good will also take place.
