Manchester West High senior charged with assaulting ex’s new girlfriend

SHERBURNE
MANCHESTER — A 17-year-old senior at Manchester High School West was arraigned Monday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on a felony second-degree assault charge that alleges she used brass knuckles to assault her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend.

Court documents show the victim told police that Korie-Ann Sherburne, of 1630 Front St., confronted her when the victim went to a Conant Street address to retrieve some of her belongings.

Police prosecutor Carissa Pelletier described it as a “vicious attack.” Police said the victim lost two teeth and had bruises, bumps and lacerations, including one on her lip that required stitches.

The victim told police that Sherburne and the man, identified as Anthony Barry, 30, had been boyfriend and girlfriend for four years and have a child together.

The police prosecutor has requested $10,000 cash/surety bail, but Judge Gregory Michael set bail at $2,000 cash/surety with conditions barring contact with the victim or going within 100 yards of her address.

A probable cause hearing was set for Nov. 1.

Didn’t look her age

Police said a teller at TD Bank at 1255 South Willow St., refused to honor a withdrawal slip Saturday because the face of the woman who presented a driver’s license at the drive-through window didn’t match that of the 90-year-old license holder.

Officers responding to the reported attempted theft located the vehicle at a McDonald’s and identified the woman who presented the license as Heather Boyd, 42, of 241 Pine St.

Police determined that Boyd knew the victim but that the victim did not authorize a withdrawal. Boyd was charged with felony forgery and receiving stolen property.

A police prosecutor sought $3,500 cash/surety bail for Boyd, noting she has a suspended sentence on a July 2012 prostitution conviction. Judge Gregory Michael set bail at $1,000 cash/surety, with conditions that include no contact with the victim and not going to any TD Bank branch in Manchester. A probable cause hearing on the felony and a status hearing on the misdemeanor were set for Nov. 1.

Accused of attacking roommate

Kelly McAndrew, 37, of 32 Bath St., pleaded innocent Monday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to charges of simple assault (3), criminal threatening (2) and criminal mischief. Trial was set for Jan. 24, 2013.

Court documents show that when police responded to the Bath Street address for the second time in about an hour Friday evening, they found McAndrew’s roommate being attended to by an EMT.

McAndrew is accused of slapping her roommate of two months in the face, biting his chest and hitting him in the head with a hand drill. She’s also accused of telling the man: “I’m going to stab and kill you.” The victim told police that after McAndrew assaulted him, he was able to get her out of the apartment, after which she smashed a wooden chair against the door. According the court documents, an officer was present when McAndrew told the victim, who was planning to go to Florida: “You won’t live to see Florida.”

A police prosecutor requested $2,000 cash/surety bail, saying it was an unprovoked attack on the roommate.

McAndrew told Judge Gregory Michael: “I’m trying to get my life back on track.” Michael set bail at $1,500 personal recognizance and $500 cash/surety and declined McAndrew’s request to reduce the cash/surety bail further.

Mugged on footpath

A 64-year-old city man told police Sunday he was mugged Saturday evening and his wallet taken. The man told police he had walked from the West Side across the footbridge and was heading up the footpath next to Delta Dental Stadium when he was jumped from behind.

The man said the mugger hit him repeatedly and removed the wallet from his pants’ pocket before fleeing in a southerly direction. The victim said he did not see the mugger and could not describe him. He said he was able to recover some of his ID cards, but his wallet containing several credit cards was not recovered. Police said the victim had a large abrasion on his face and complained of pain in his shoulder and ribs.
