College Sports Roundup: No. 20 Southern New Hampshire men top St. Rose

Chris Tsonis scored two goals and Andrew Mattarazzo tallied a goal and two assists as No. 20 Southern New Hampshire University downed St. Rose, 6-1, in Northeast-10 Conference men’s soccer play in Manchester Tuesday.

The triumph upped the Penmen’s season record to 13-3 and conference mark to 9-3.

Tsonis has 11 goals this season.

Austin Britt, Mohamed Toufik and Kenny Doublette also netted strikes for SNHU, while keeper Mark Painchaud of Concord, making his second start of the season, made one save.

Southern New Hampshire outshot the Golden Knights, 21-9.

Women’s soccer

Colby-Sawyer 2, Castleton State 1: At Castleton, Vt., Colleen Coburn and Stephanie Huntley supplied the offense as the Chargers remained unbeaten in nine NAC matches.

Field hockey

Lasell 2, Colby-Sawyer 0: At New London, the Lasers received goals f rom Nikita Soares and Cristina Wilson to secure a berth in the upcoming NAC tournament. CSC ended its season with a 1-8 conference record.

Becker 6, Daniel Webster 1: At Leicester, Mass., Maeghan Farrelly scored an unassisted goal for the Eagles.

Honors

UNH: Jennifer Roberts is the America East women’s Swimmer of the Week.

St. Anselm: Kaitlin Oldfield of Epping is the ECAC women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Week ... Margaret Tereschuk was named the Northeast-10 volleyball Libero of the Week.

Plymouth State: Women’s tennis standout Sara Burke earned all-Little East Conference Second Team honors at both No. 1 singles and doubles. Molly Heartfield also earned Second Team No. 1 doubles honors, and Nitsa Ioannides was selected to the Second Team at No. 3 singles.

Transactions

Dartmouth: Former Siena associate head coach Andrea Woodbury has joined the Dartmouth women’s basketball staff as a volunteer coach for the 2012-13 season. Woodbury served as an assistant coach at New Hampshire College (now SNHU) and guided the 1989-90 team to the NECC championship and an NCAA Regional appearance.
