OSSIPEE — Three Carroll County Department of Corrections officers were arrested Friday for allegedly allowing two teenage girls to have alcohol during a gathering at one of the officer's homes.

According to Ossipee Police Department Sgt. Robert King, Corrections officers William Lewis, 26, of Conway, Taylor Goddard, 21, of New Durham, and Michael Medina, 22, of Ossipee were arrested Oct. 19 and charged with prohibited sales of alcohol. Lewis is a sergeant with the Department of Corrections.

The gathering of six people, the three men and three teenage girls, was at Medina's home. The men were bailed out from the Ossipee Police Department. They are scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 19.

“These arrests follow an investigation, which started when the Ossipee police were dispatched to a complaint on Ridge Road on Sept. 7,” states a press release from Ossipee police. “Police arrived to find a party, where underage persons were determined to be intoxicated.” In a follow-up call on Tuesday, King said the girls were 17 and 18 years old.

Two of the three underage party attendees were given summonses to appear in court and were released to family members. No charges were filed related to hosting an underage drinking party because state law requires more than five underage persons to be involved.

Ossipee police first responded to a noise complaint at Medina's Ridge Road home on Sept. 7; when they arrived they heard yelling and screaming, and found evidence of a party and determined that the two of the teenage girls were intoxicated.

Corrections Department superintendent Jason Johnson was asked to comment for this story but said he would need to check with the county's human resources department first.

Prohibited sale of alcohol is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to a $2,000 fine and one year in jail.
