RAYMOND — A local woman was found dead in her car Monday morning about 10 hours after police believe she backed over a slope in her driveway, causing the car to roll onto its roof and trapping her inside.

On Wednesday, police said that Louise Abelli, 60, of 7 Lincoln Drive, Raymond, was found in the vehicle by a neighbor when the sun came up Monday morning. Police were called at 7:04 a.m.

Police determined that Abelli, who lived alone, was backing into her driveway but missed the parking space and went down the embankment.

Raymond Police Cpl. Kerry Pomeroy said they do not know what caused Abelli to back into the spot the wrong way.

“It could be some kind of medical issue,” Pomeroy said.

He said police were surprised that no one in the residential neighborhood heard anything, but he added that it would have been a slow rollover.

The accident remains under investigation.

Her obituary to be published tomorrow indicates she was a nurse who worked for the Eventide Home in Exeter and the Masonic Home in Manchester. She was a member of the Raymond Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.  Her husband died in 2007.

A service is scheduled Friday at St. Joseph Church in Epping, and calling hours are scheduled Thursday evening at the Stockbridge Funeral Home in Exeter.
