Seabrook man indicted in bank robbery

REED

SEABROOK — A Seabrook man has been federally indicted for allegedly robbing a Lafayette Road bank here in July.

Jacob Reed, 32, of Seabrook, is facing a single count of bank robbery in U.S. District Court for taking an undisclosed sum of money from Sovereign Bank in Seabrook on July 9.

Reed allegedly handed the bank teller a note demanding money, taking off with an unknown amount of cash. He fled in a black GMC pickup truck, setting off a brief pursuit by police in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, before being arrested 13 minutes later over the state line in Salisbury, Mass. Reed was arrested at about 3:20 p.m. near Bartlett Farm by Amesbury and Salisbury police officers.

At a hearing on Oct. 11, the defense stipulated that Reed would remain held, pending his trial. Reed was indicted Oct. 3 by a federal grand jury.

His trial has been set for the week of Dec. 11 in U.S. District Court.
