Man distracted by cellphone drove into utility pole say Laconia police
LACONIA - Police urge motorists to concentrate on the road after a single vehicle accident Friday caused a driver fishing for his cell phone to crash.
Jeremiah Brewer, 28, of 53A Adams St., refused treatment at the scene of the accident at 11:33 a.m. Brewer, was at Union Avenue and Lyman Street when he crashed.
Brewer told police he was distracted while reaching for his phone and did not realize he had veered off the road.
A witness reported observing the vehicle for an extended period of time before it struck a telephone pole.
