Man pleads innocent to misdemeanor assault charge

Michael Seiders, 29, of 209 Wilson St., pleaded innocent Friday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and trial was set for Jan. 24.

Seiders is accused of grabbing a woman by the hair and pulling her across a bed during an argument.

A police prosecutor said Seiders has a prior conviction involving the same woman. Citing Seiders’ criminal record, which includes a May 2012 assault conviction and a November 2011 conviction for assault and violation of a protective order. A police prosecutor requested $2,500 cash/surety bail, with conditions barring contact with the alleged victim and barring Seiders from the woman’s residence.

Seiders asked Judge William Lyons for personal recognizance bail, but Lyons said Seiders’ history makes a cash/surety bail appropriate and set bail at the amount requested by the prosecutor.

Checks allegedly forged from relative’s account

A police prosecutor sought $10,000 cash/surety bail for Gerald Howard in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on Friday on 10 forgery charges involving checks drawn on a relative’s account.

Howard, 36, of 48 Henriette St., is accused of forging and cashing checks totaling more than $1,800 over a three-month period earlier this year.

Police prosecutor Carissa Pelletier sought new bail of $5,000 cash/surety for Gagne, with conditions barring him from the victim’s address and from Cash for Gold, 8 Gabrielle St. Judge William Lyons granted the request and a probable cause hearing was set for Nov. 8.
