Man pleads innocent to misdemeanor assault charge
Michael Seiders, 29, of 209 Wilson St., pleaded innocent Friday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault and trial was set for Jan. 24.
Seiders is accused of grabbing a woman by the hair and pulling her across a bed during an argument.
A police prosecutor said Seiders has a prior conviction involving the same woman. Citing Seiders’ criminal record, which includes a May 2012 assault conviction and a November 2011 conviction for assault and violation of a protective order. A police prosecutor requested $2,500 cash/surety bail, with conditions barring contact with the alleged victim and barring Seiders from the woman’s residence.
Seiders asked Judge William Lyons for personal recognizance bail, but Lyons said Seiders’ history makes a cash/surety bail appropriate and set bail at the amount requested by the prosecutor.
Checks allegedly forged from relative’s account
A police prosecutor sought $10,000 cash/surety bail for Gerald Howard in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on Friday on 10 forgery charges involving checks drawn on a relative’s account.
Howard, 36, of 48 Henriette St., is accused of forging and cashing checks totaling more than $1,800 over a three-month period earlier this year.
Telling Judge William Lyons that he is on parole, is a single father and is working, Howard requested a break on bail. Lyons set bail at $5,000 cash/surety, with conditions barring contact with the account holder and barring him from her residence. A probable cause hearing on the felony charges was set for Nov. 7.
Alleged thief charged with stealing from neighbor
A man being held on $50,000 cash/surety bail on robbery, theft by deception and receiving stolen property charges, was arraigned Friday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on a new felony charge of receiving stolen property.
Brian Gagne, 24, of 158 Beech Hill Ave., is accused of having gold jewelry, a laptop, television and Wii game system stolen from another Beech Hill Avenue address.
Police prosecutor Carissa Pelletier sought new bail of $5,000 cash/surety for Gagne, with conditions barring him from the victim’s address and from Cash for Gold, 8 Gabrielle St. Judge William Lyons granted the request and a probable cause hearing was set for Nov. 8.
