Another New Hampshire meningitis case reported

October 26. 2012 9:16PM

New Hampshire health officials on Friday announced an eleventh case of illness associated with a national meningitis outbreak linked to contaminated medication from a Massachusetts company.

The outbreak, which public health officials say is linked to injectable steroids produced by New England Compounding Center, has sickened 338 people nationwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control; 25 people have died as of Friday.

None of the 11 New Hampshire cases has been fatal. Eight of the New Hampshire patients contracted fungal meningitis, and three were diagnosed with other fungal infections, according to the state health department.

Eighteen states have reported cases of illness in the outbreak, according to the CDC.
