St. Anselm comeback falls just short
St. Anselm College freshman quarterback Andrew Murphy threw for 430 yards and was unstoppable in the second half, but the Hawks lost a 37-34 shootout against American International at Grappone Stadium Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets took a 31-14 lead in the third quarter before St. Anselm mounted a comeback, beginning with a 12-play, 79-yard drive. Murphy scored on a 3-yard run, and later tossed a 2-yard score to Justin Bernard. The Hawks scored again with 44 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter on Murphy’s third touchdown pass of the night, an 8-yarder to Bernard. The QB completed 47 of 66 passes with four interceptions. Eric Feehan and Ahkeen Williams each made 11 receptions in the Northeast-10 battle.
AIC quarterback Kevin Arduino tossed three touchdown passes in the first half as American International took a 28-0 lead. Arduino finished the night at 13-for-25 and 176 yards. The Yellow Jackets improved to 7-1 overall and 7-0 in division play. The Hawks dropped to 1-8 (1-6 NE-10) in their final home game of the year.

SNHU 4, AIC 1: At Springfield, Mass., the 20th-ranked Penmen scored three times in the second half for a Northeast-10 victory at Abdow Field. Southern New Hampshire’s Dominic Samuel, Jordan Branco, Mohamed Toufik and Chris Tsonis all scored as the Penmen wrapped up the regular season at 14-3 overall and 10-3 in the NE-10. The Yellow Jackets moved to 5-10-2 overall and 5-6-2 in the division.

Dartmouth 2, Yale 2: At Providence, Dartmouth’s Eric Robinson scored a power-play goal with 3:04 remaining in regulation to force overtime, and the two Ivies settled for a tie at Brown’s Meehan Auditorium.
A centering feed from sophomore Tyler Sikura found Robinson charging hard to the net, and Robinson beat goalie Nick Maricic in the season opener for both teams. Dartmouth goalie Cab Morris was strong, turning aside 18 shots, including a huge kick save with the left pad in OT. Dartmouth scored twice in the shootout, advancing to today’s final of the Ivy League Shootout against Brown at 7 p.m..
