NH College Football Roundup: Dartmouth, Plymouth State defeated
Running back Treavor Scales ran for three touchdowns to lead Harvard to a 31-14 victory over Dartmouth on Saturday night in Hanover.
Scales scored on runs of 3 and 2 yards in the second quarter, and added a 2-yard TD run on the first play of the fourth. Davi Mothander made four point-after kicks and capped the scoring with a 25-yard field goal with 5:52 to play.
The victory raised Harvard’s record to 6-1 overall and 3-1 in the Ivy League. Dartmouth dropped to 4-3 overall (2-2 Ivy).
Dartmouth trailed 21-0 at halftime, but climbed back into the contest by scoring twice in the third.
Quarterback Alex Park tossed a 22-yard pass to Michael Reilly for Dartmouth’s first touchdown, and then Park connected with Ryan McManus for a 68-yard TD pass with 4:56 left in the third.
Park completed 23-of-38 passes for 304 yards. He was intercepted once.
Harvard quarterback Colton Chapple opened the scoring with a 7-yard run in the first quarter. Scales finished the game with 89 yards rushing on 21 attempts.
Salve Regina 31, PSU 0
The Salve Regina defense held Plymouth State to 131 yards of total offense, including 3 yards in the second half, as the Seahawks shut out the Panthers, 31-0, in a New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd Division contest Saturday.
Salve Regina improved to 8-1 overall, and 5-1 in Boyd Division play. The loss was the fourth straight for the Panthers, who fell to 2-7 overall and 1-5 in the division.
Salve Regina quarterback Steven Wilken completed 14-of-25 passes for 184 yards and two scores, and also rushed for 49 yards and touchdown.
Plymouth State running back Andrew Foglia had a game-high 68 yards rushing on 21 carries. The Panthers trailed 21-0 at halftime.
AIC 37, St. Anselm 34
St. Anselm quarterback Andrew Murphy threw for a school-record 430 yards, but the Hawks lost a 37-34 shootout against American International at Grappone Stadium Friday night.
The Yellow Jackets took a 31-14 lead in the third quarter before St. Anselm mounted a comeback, beginning with a 12-play, 79-yard scoring drive capped by Murphy’s 3-yard run. Murphy, a freshman, later tossed a 2-yard score to Justin Bernard. The Hawks scored again with 44 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter on Murphy’s third touchdown pass of the night, an 8-yarder to Bernard.
Murphy completed 47 of 66 passes with four interceptions. Eric Feehan and Ahkeen Williams each made 11 receptions.
