Trees fallien on wires catch fire in Auburn; 75% of PSNH customers without power
AUBURN - Auburn Safety officials have received a number of calls reporting trees falling on wires and catching on fire due to wind from Hurricane Sandy.
“I’ve been here since quarter of four, and we’ve had four or five calls so far,” said Captain Gary Bartis of Auburn PD.
There are no current fires in Auburn. All the reports so far have been responded to by the Auburn Fire Department, with all discovered fires subsequently extinguished.
Beyond the fires, Bartis reports that “nothing serious” has happened in the town so far.
At the time of this reporting, 71%, or 1597 of Auburn's 2240 Public Service of New Hampshire customers are without power
