Two roads closed in Hooksett due to downed trees and power lines
Hackett Hill Road and South Bow Road in Hooksett were closed as of 1:30 pm due to road hazards, as trees and power lines succumb to Hurricane Sandy’s wind.
Trees are down at 3 or 4 different areas on South Bow Road. Safety officials are currently waiting for Public Service of New Hampshire responders to remove power wires from one of the trees before they will open. PSNH has not given Hooksett Police a clear indication of when they will be able to respond to the scene, and thus cannot currently comment when the road will reopen. The road is currently barricaded.
On Hackett Hill Road, primary power lines are down across the road. It is also not clear when PSNH will be able to respond to this scene.
"We’re hoping [soon]," said Deputy Fire Chief Michael Hoisington. “I don’t know what the situation is on their arrival to repair with everything going on."
Beyond "a few trees and power lines down," however, Hoisington reported that Sandy has wreaked "nothing drastic as of yet" on Hooksett.
