Pa. man sentenced in NH home invasion
CONCORD - A Pennsylvania man, involved in an attempted home invasion last year on Pleasant Street, was sentenced Wednesday to 77 months in federal prison.
Nicholas Sheffler, 22, of Pittston, was sentenced Wednesday in U.S. District Court.
He and three other Pennsylvania men traveled to New Hampshire May 30, 2011, specifically to rob an alleged drug dealer of drugs and money, according to court documents. They brought two firearms - a handgun and a shotgun - with them to use in the crime.
According to news reports, the men made such a racket when they tried to kick in the door to the apartment above the "In a Pinch" Cafe that they woke up the alleged drug dealer who yelled at them. The would-be intruders took off but they returned, determined to complete the robbery.
When they did, however, they were met by two men armed with hammers who chased after them. They fled, and Sheffler was arrested shortly after by Concord police. Ultimately, the other three were arrested as well.
Concord police were assisted in the investigation by the FBI. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Seth R. Aframe.
