Emergency drill canceled in Nashua

NASHUA -- A mock evacuation drill that was planned for this weekend at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center has been postponed.

A hospital spokesman said the simulated evacuation of the hospital originally planned for Saturday has been canceled because participants from the Air National Guard are still deployed for recovery and restoration efforts of Hurricane Sandy.

The drill will likely be rescheduled sometime in the spring, although a definitive date has not yet been determined, said the spokesman.

The exercise was planned for Saturday and was to include multiple emergency management experts and agencies. A simulated evacuation was set to take place at the hospital, resulting from a simulated boiler system failure and explosion.
