Much of Londonderry still in the dark
Power restoration continued in Londonderry on Wednesday evening, with Fire Chief Kevin MacCaffrie noting that full power was expected to be restored to residents over the next three days.
MacCaffrie said additional PSNH crews were coming from New York and New Jersey to assist with restoration efforts and several thousand residents had their power restored over the past 24 hours.
Power was restored to much of the deeply impacted Kings neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon. As of 5 p.m., around 28 percent of the town's residents, just under 3,000 residents, were still waiting to get their power back, compared to the 75 percent blackout rate reported earlier this week.
Town officials said the Londonderry High School gym would be open to the public “at least through Friday” for residents needing to use shower facilities. Public hours for showers are daily from 6 to 8 a.m. and from 4 to 9 p.m.
