Obama, Clinton visit shuts streets in downtown Concord

CONCORD - Traffic restrictions will begin early today as the city prepares for a rally, featuring President Barack Obama and former President Bill Clinton.

The city is shutting down several blocks surrounding the capitol grounds, where thousands are expected to gather as Clinton and Obama make one last push in the Granite State two days before voters go to the polls.

Concord Police Lt. Tim O'Malley said the grid is bordered by Spring, Centre, North Main and School streets. Main Street will remain open to pedestrians in most areas Saturday, however auto traffic will be rerouted in preparation for the Sunday morning rally.

"For people who are already down there it will be obvious where they can and can't go," O'Malley said Friday.

O'Malley recommended people attending the rally use shuttles that will be running downtown.
