It's tough to create a kids movie that entertains adults as well.

Disney Pixar has a long history for doing just that with hits like the Toy Story franchise, "Monsters, Inc." and others. This time out it looks like the regular Disney animation studio has nailed it with "Wreck-it Ralph."

The movie opened on Friday and my two boys (ages six and nine) as well as my wife and I are all excited to see it (and may have already done so by the time you read this).

"Wreck-it Ralph" looks to have enough action and humor to keep the kids happy while adding a healthy dose of nostalgia for parents thanks to the appearance of numerous classic video game characters like Pac-Man and Q*bert.

The premise itself also seems like a fun one. Ralph is the bad guy in the fictional video game Fix-it Felix, where he smashes buildings that the hero (who the player controls) then has to repair.

Tired of being a bad guy, Ralph escapes his game and sets out to find a game to join where he can be a hero. His travels through the arcade world bring him into contact with lots of classic characters and should be one of the highlights.

The voice cast is also stocked with talent, from John C. Reilly as Ralph to Jane Lynch and New Hampshire's own Sarah Silverman. All in all, "Wreck-it Ralph" looks like a slam dunk.

I also wanted to share some quick thoughts on a few other topics as well.

-- Arrow: The first four episodes have aired of the CW's new Green Arrow television series. So far I like the show, though I think it tries a little too hard with some of the drama aspects. But the action has been good and we even got to see Deadshot from DC Comics make it into the show.

-- The Walking Dead: The mega-hit AMC TV series is up in running for season three and it has been excellent thus far, even coming up with a strong episode that took the risk of not featuring the main star Andrew Lincoln (as Rick Grimes).

-- Dish Network subscribers also got good news recently as the lawsuit with Cablevision was resolved. That means that Dish subscribers will get AMC back. Losing AMC and thus "The Walking Dead" brought Dish a lot of bad press so it's good to see this issue settled.

-- Wolverine: The first issue of Marvel Comics new "Max" version of the popular mutant hero hit the stands last week and it's a strong debut. Writer Jason Starr has crafted a nice jumping-on point, with a solid grasp on the character and a mystery waiting to be solved.

Be warned that because the book is a "Max" version that means that graphic violence, profanity and sexual content are all present in the book. But with the exception of a little of the profanity, nothing in the first issue seemed gratuitous.

Overall, the book looks interesting and I will give it a few issues to get its feet under it and see where it goes.
