DERRY - At a special Town Council meeting on Tuesday night, the council unanimously approved the appointment of new tax collector Dawn Enwright.

Enwright will replace Nancy Watson, who retired on Oct. 31.

Enwright was brought forward by Town Administrator John Anderson after a selection panel interviewed two internal and five external candidates.

Town finance director Frank Childs and assistant town administrator Larry Budreau then conducted interviews with the top two candidates.

"Dawn was offered the job on Oct. 16; she provided her current employer, the city of Nashua, a three-week notice of resignation," said Anderson. "Subject to Town Council confirmation of my appointment, Ms. Enwright will begin work here on Thursday, Nov. 8."

Enwright earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Lowell and completed LGC's Municipal Accounting Certification program. She began her career as corporate accountant for COMFED Savings Bank in Lowell, and later joined the City of Nashua as senior accountant/auditor, according to Anderson.

"She has been Nashua's financial analyst, financial consultant and most recently the city's trust accountant," said Anderson.

"She has a thorough, comprehensive understanding of municipal accounting, has worked closely with their tax collector and municipal agent and is familiar with relevant RSAs and common practices."

Anderson said Enwright lives in Londonderry with her husband, four teenage children and four horses and is active in the community. She has been a soccer coach and is head coach of the Londonderry High School Equestrian Team.
