Two sisters who are accused of punching their mother in the head, during an argument, were arraigned Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on simple assault charges.

Christina Asbury, 27, and Jillian Asbury, 23, both of 440 Kennard Road, pleaded innocent and trials were set for Dec. 20.

Jillian Asbury was also arraigned on a criminal mischief charge for which she failed to appear Oct. 16. That trial was also set for Dec. 20.

That charge alleges she ripped her ex-boyfriend's mailbox off the wall at a Pearl Street address.

Bail for both women was set at $500 cash. Jillian asked Judge William Lyons for personal recognizance bail, but he said her failure to appear barred that.

Conditions of the two women's bail bar contact with their mother and bar them from the Kennard Street address.

Mistaken identity, victim at fault

Fadhil Al-Jibury, 25, of 25 Walker St., could enter no plea Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a felony charge of first degree assault that alleges he hit a man with oars in Sullivan Park, causing injuries, including one that required stitches.

Al-Jibury told Judge William Lyons that information was all wrong, that the alleged victim was to blame, that he set up the meeting.

Lyons set bail at the $50,000 cash/surety requested by the police prosecutors. A probable cause hearing on the felony charge was set for Nov. 19.

Claimed he wasn't driving

Andrew Blanchard, 23, of South McIndoes Falls, Vt., pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to charges of possession of a controlled drug, false report of an accident, Driving While Intoxicated and DWI concentration (.08 or more).

Blanchard is accused of claiming another man was the driver on Perimeter Road, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and having in his possession synthetic marijuana.

Bail was set at $1,000 cash/surety with a trial date of Dec. 20.

Wants same laywer from other charge

Tyler Edwards, 18, of 456 Cartier St., pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a charge of receiving stolen property for having a gun case and cleaning kit that had been reported stolen from a car.

Edwards, who asked at pre-arraignment if he could have the same lawyer as he has for another receiving stolen property charge, told Judge William Lyons that his girlfriend brought the "stuff' over and put it in his mother's shed.

The police prosecutors sought $1,000 cash/surety bail, but Edwards pleaded with Judge Lyons for personal recognizance, saying he is a full-time student and works part time with his father. He said all he has is $109.

Lyons set bail at $100 cash and $900 personal recognizance.

Trial was set for Jan. 23, 2013.
