Londonderry church to host blood drive
LONDONDERRY — The Saint Jude Parish Community Service Committee will host its annual fall blood drive this Friday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the church, located at 435 Mammoth Road.
Event organizer Vinnie Curro said the need for blood donors is “tremendous” in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, which caused many of area's drives were cancelled on account of weather conditions and loss of power.
“This has greatly diminished the amount of blood products sores as we enter the busy winter and holiday season,” Curro said, noting that local Red Cross officials recently informed him that the organization has “less than a few days' worth” of available blood products for the New England region.
Curro said that those who donate blood will be rewarded generously with homemade treats made by church volunteers, including baked goods, chili and hot chicken soup. For more information, contact Curro at firstname.lastname@example.org.
