Alternative Logistics is bought by Mont Vernon businessman
Alternative Logistics, a Nashua company that specializes in order fulfillment for more than 40 businesses in North America and Europe, has been purchased by Leo White for an undisclosed amount.
White, of Mont Vernon, was the former owner and president of Bortech in Keene until he sold the manufacturing company that serves the welding industry earlier this year.
White recently acquired Alternative Logistics from its founder, Kevin Kelly.
"I feel that my company and our loyal clients will be in good hands under the new ownership," Kelly said in a statement.
Kelly is retiring after a lengthy career in logistics. However, he will stay involved in the company to assist White during the transition period, and to introduce the new owner to the existing customer base, according to a release.
"We plan to stay put in Nashua and grow the company right here in New Hampshire," White said in a statement released earlier this week. "I feel fortunate to be able to be retaining the loyal, experienced employees who deliver such great service to the customers of ALI."
White, who is a member of the CEO Peerlink advisory group of Vested for Growth, said his newly acquired company will continue employing its workforce of about a dozen employees.
Alternative Logistics handles order processing, warehousing, packaging and shipping for clients. It stores products and then fulfills orders as they are generated by customers, often as a result of Web-based transactions, says the release.
According to its website, Alternative Logistics was incorporated in 1992, and is bonded and licensed by the state of New Hampshire.
The company, which digitally captures orders and then interfaces directly with client computer systems to provide shipping and inventory information without the need for re-entry of data, operates within a former mill building at 1 Chestnut St.
"We are very glad to see this fine business preserved under new ownership," said Leon Parker, president of New Hampshire Business Sales Inc. "We have been seeing activity across all sectors, which is a good sign for the economy."
The sale of the company was coordinated by John Post, associate, and John Howe, vice president, both of New Hampshire Business Sales. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed, and White did not return a phone call seeking additional information.
