College Sports Roundup: UNH men edged in N.J.
NEWARK, N.J. – Chandler Rhoads notched a career-high 21 points but the New Jersey Institute of Technology used a late hoop to edge the Wildcats, 69-67, Wednesday evening. New Hampshire drops to 2-2 overall, while NJIT evens up at 2-2 on the season.
Franklin Pierce 85, Stonehill 73: Eric Jean-Guillaume led four Ravens in double-figures with 23 points as No. 8 nationally-ranked Franklin Pierce University defeated Stonehill at Easton, Mass., on Tuesday night. FPU improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the NE-10.
Rivier 58, New England College 54: At Nashua, Dover's Garon Whitney recorded his second straight double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders. Brian Troy of Keene and Tom Poitras of Bow each tallied 15. The Pilgrims were led by the duo of Ryan Schmitz and Abdirahman Mohamed who scored 11 points each.
Keene State 71, Elms 66: At Chicopee, Mass., Rashad Wright scored 15 points and pulled down 11 rebounds to key the 2-1 Owls in non-conference action. Eeic Fazio tallied 14 points and eight boards.
NHTI 86, Maine-Augusta 43: At Concord, Aron Pierce netted 15 points, Bujar Syla of Manchester tallied 12 points and Besfort Syla of Manchester scored 11 points to lead the 8-0 Lynx.
Women's basketball
Boston College 64, New Hampshire 59: At Chestnut Hill, Mass., Morgan Frame, Kelsey Hogan of Nashua and Cari Reed netted 14, 13 and 12 points respectively, but the effort wasn't enough fo the 2-1 Wildcats. Seabrook's Tiffany Ruffin saw two minutes of playing time for the Eagles and did not score.
Rivier 80, Daniel Webster 57: At Nashua, Deanna Purcell of Hudson recored a double-double of 23 points and 11 rebounds for the Raiders. DWC received a game-high 28 points (10-for-10 from the free throw line) from Ashley Giampetruzzi of Manchester.
NHTI 72, Maine-Augusta 63: At Concord, Lebanon's Sara Romano scored 17 points with eight assists, Bristol's Jordan Phinney netted 12 points with four assists, Northwood's Allura LeBlanc banked in 12 points with eight rebounds and five steals, and Derry's Danielle Kimball chipped in 10 points for the 4-2 Lynx.

Southern New Hampshire 5, Suffolk 5 (OT): At Hooksett, Jim Gabrione scored two goals while Joe Collins, Steven Berry and Charles Wisniewski added single strikes in season-opening action for the Penmen. SNHU trailed 3-0 before rallying for a 5-4 lead. Suffolk tied the game with 50 seconds left in regulation.

New Hampshire 5, Quinnipiac 2: At Durham, Jessica Hitchcock tallied three points including a pair of goals to power the Wildcats, unbeaten in their last four games (3-0-1) to 6-7-1 on the season.
