UNH men lose lead, settle for 4-4 tie
This one goes down as a “bad” tie.
The UNH men's hockey team, up 4-0 in the second period and 4-2 with 3:32 remaining in regulation, allowed Colorado College to come storming back for a 4-4 overtime tie on Friday night in Colorado Springs, Colo.
The No. 3 Wildcats, who outshot the Tigers, 49-29, moved to 8-1-2 overall. CC, ranked No. 14, is 7-5-1.
The Tigers' Rylan Schwartz scored with 3:32 remaining, then William Rapuzzi knotted it with 1:55 left.
The Wildcats outshot CC, 3-0, in the overtime period.
Third-line center Casey Thrush scored twice for UNH. Trevor van Riemsdyk and Scott Pavelski tallied the other UNH goals.
Goalie Casey DeSmith made 25 saves for UNH, which plays at Denver tonight.
