Santa brings Christmas spirit to Rochester Friday for tree-lighting
ROCHESTER - Santa plans to stop by in the Lilac City this weekend to help get area residents ready for the season.
The jolly old elf will make an appearance at Federal Savings Bank at 17 Wakefield St. as part of a tree-lighting ceremony underwritten by Frisbie Memorial Hospital, which is scheduled for Friday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Central Square.
Mayor T.J. Jean will officially kick off the celebration by lighting Rochester's Christmas tree, but participants can stroll along the festive sidewalks to enjoy various events, including decorating cookies at the Chamber of Commerce office, enjoying dance performances by Studio 109 Dance, Voice & Drama and listening to the Frisbie Memorial Hospital carolers.
To keep everyone warm, Citizens Bank will provide hot chocolate and more cookies.
Meanwhile, families can enjoy the annual breakfast with Santa event, which is scheduled for Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. in Frisbie's Community Education & Conference Center, which is located at the rear of the hospital along Rochester Hill Road, Route 108.
The event, which draws many families each year, includes a full breakfast buffet, arts and crafts and time for children to visit Santa.
As the event is popular and seating is limited, registration is required for the event, although the last seating will be at 10 a.m. The cost of admission is $6 for adults, $3 per child ages 6-12, and free for those age five and under.
For more information or to register for the breakfast, call 332-5211, ext. 7999.
