NASHUA - Nashua police arrested a Merrimack man wanted in a September hit-and-run that seriously injured an 85-year-old woman.

Kendrick Hoskins, 40, of 46 Thornton Road West, was arrested on a warrant charging him with conduct after an accident, a class B felony, and driving after license revocation or suspension, a misdemeanor.

Lt. Michael Moushegian said police obtained a warrant for Hoskins early on in the investigation but were unable to locate him until Wednesday afternoon when police had a chance encounter with him while conducting another unrelated criminal investigation.

Hoskins also is charged with possession of a narcotic drug with intent to distribute, second offense, and violating parole, charges unrelated to the accident investigation. He also was wanted on five electronic bench warrants for failing to appear in court on charges of driving after license suspension, violation of a protective order, license prohibitions, acts prohibited and stalking-related offenses, all misdemeanors.

The hit-and-run occurred about 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 2 on Tinker Road. Merrimack police had pursued a vehicle being driving by Hoskins erratically and at a high rate of speed that crossed into Nashua, according to Nashua police.

The Merrimack officer lost sight of the vehicle and a short time later, it was involved in a head-on collision with another car on Tinker Road in Nashua. A passenger in the car, an 85-year-old woman, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries, police said.

Hoskins is accused of fleeing the scene and making no attempt to contact the operator of the other vehicle or the passenger.

What's next: Hoskins is being held without bail pending arraignment Thursday in 9th Circuit Court, Nashua District Division.
