Man pleads innocent to wrapping cord around girlfriend's neck and false imprisonment
MANCHESTER - Frederick Dubois, 54, of 470 Silver St., pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to misdemeanor charges of simple assault and false imprisonment.
Dubois is accused of wrapping a window blind cord around his girlfriend's neck and of putting a screw in the deadbolt on the front door, to prevent her from leaving.
Police prosecutor Carissa Pelletier requested $2,000 cash/surety bail, saying Dubois' most recent conviction was for assault in August 2011, but his record includes other convictions, including habitual offender and aggravated driving while intoxicated.
Dubois asked Judge William Lyons for personal recognizance bail, saying his disability check won't arrive until the first of the month. Lyons set bail at $1,000 cash/surety and $1,000 personal recognizance, with conditions barring contact with Dubois' girlfriend and barring him from her residence. Trial was set for Feb. 7.
Pleads innocent to mischief charge
David Grover, 26, of 740 Hanover St., was brought to Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on a warrant for his failure to appear in Hooksett on a disorderly conduct charge, but the clerk informed him that he also had a pending charge in Manchester, for which he failed to appear in January.
Bail was set at $200 personal recognizance on the Hooksett charge, with a court hearing set for Dec. 5.
The Manchester charge alleges he broke the rear window of a vehicle on River Road Dec. 29, 2011. Grover pleaded innocent to that charge, telling Judge William Lyons: "I wasn't even at that party."
Bail was set at $500 cash/surety on the Manchester charge, with trial set for Feb. 7, 2013.
Lawyer pleads for personal recognizance bail
Mark Trimble, 28, of 52 Gillette St., Laconia, pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a charge of violation of a protective order and trial was set for Feb. 7. 2013.
A police prosecutor requested $1,000 cash/surety bail, but Trimble's attorney, Matthew Pennington, said: "No amount of cash/surety bail is needed."
Pennington said the alleged violation occurred as the alleged victim left the courthouse at 8:30 in the morning, but he didn't report the alleged violation immediately, going home before calling police. Pennington said the man described a vehicle, driven by Trimble's girlfriend, in which Trimble was allegedly a passenger and "showed his middle finger." But, Pennington said, Trimble's girlfriend was at work at the time of the alleged violation and Trimble had been driven to court for the preliminary hearing by his mother in a very different looking vehicle.
Lyons set bail at $500 cash/surety and $500 personal recognizance, with conditions mirroring the protective order.
Assault alleged at Valley Street jail
Randy Katanga, 19, of 33 Whig Dr., could enter no plea Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a felony charge of assault by a prisoner.
While being held at the Valley Street Jail on $4,000 cash/surety bail, Katanga is accused of assaulting an inmate, punching him repeatedly and continuing the assault after the alleged victim fell to the floor.
An additional $1,000 cash/surety bail was set on the assault charge and a probable cause hearing was set for Dec. 12.
Unsworn falsification charge
David Brady, 26, of 950 Dunbarton Road, pleaded innocent Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division to a charge of unsworn falsification.
A police prosecutor said when Brady applied for a concealed pistol permit, he denied he had previously been denied such a permit.
Trial was set Feb. 13 for Brady, who is free on $500 personal recognizance bail.

William Cadden, 28, who was arrested Nov. 16 when Manchester SWAT executed search warrants on his apartment at 30 Russell St., was arraigned Thursday in Circuit Court-Manchester District Division on three felony charges of sale of a narcotic drug.
Cadden could enter no plea in Circuit Court to the felony charges alleging he sold oxycodone at Russell Street on three occasions, so a probable cause hearing was set for Dec. 19.
Asked if anything had changed since his arrest, Cadden, who is free on $25,000 cash/surety bail, said he had moved and was told to provide that new address to the clerk of court.
