Feds arrest Hinsdale man for child pornography; two children removed from home
HINSDALE - Two children were removed from the home of a Hinsdale man arrested by federal investigators on charges of distributing child pornography.
Benjamin Maes, 31, is expected to be arraigned Monday in U.S. District Court in Concord.
His arrest was the result of information uncovered by an agent of the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department and FBI Child Exploitation Task Force.
Hinsdale Police Chief Todd A. Faulkner said the officer discovered information on Nov. 30 that a child in Hinsdale was in danger of imminent harm.
Authorities obtained a federal arrest warrant, as well as a search warrant, for Maes and his home. He was arrested and two children located there were taken into protective custody.
The residence was searched and evidence collected.
According to a news release, the investigation involved a "vast array of technological investigative techniques and is a true example of the outstanding work and collaborative efforts between local, state and federal law enforcement officials to keep our children safe."
Faulkner said the investigation is ongoing, and Maes could face additional state and federal charges.
