BRENTWOOD - A couple serving jail sentences for a string of burglaries in Maine are about to face charges that they allegedly sold $16,137 in stolen jewelry to a pawn shop in Plaistow.

Summer Ali-Ariza, 30, and her boyfriend, Patrick Quinn, 37, both formerly of Camden, Maine, were indicted on theft-related charges in July for allegedly selling the jewelry between last Sept. 10 and Oct. 6. Prosecutors drafted detainers on them so that they will soon go to trial in Rockingham County Superior Court.

The two pleaded guilty in Waldo County Superior Court in Belfast, Maine, in September to a string of burglaries that came to an end with their arrest in Plaistow last Sept. 28.

Quinn is expected to go on trial Dec. 17 on charges of theft by deception and receiving stolen property, according to prosecutors. A conviction could mean adding up to 7 ½ to 15 years in state prison to a three-year prison term he is serving in Maine, according to court records.

Ali-Ariza began serving an 18-month sentence on Sept. 24 after pleading guilty to a burglary in Rockland, Maine.

In Rockingham County, she is facing six counts of receiving stolen property and a single count of theft by deception for allegedly selling jewelry that belonged to at least three different people, according to prosecutors.

Indictments say that Quinn and Ali-Ariza sold the jewelry to the Rockingham Trading Post in Plaistow, knowing it was stolen.

The duo claimed they owned the jewelry, prosecutors said.

Shortly after the burglaries in Maine, the Knox County Sheriff's Department obtained arrest warrants for Quinn and Ali-Ariza.

Plaistow police credited the local pawn shop with aiding them in the arrests.

Records kept by the store allegedly show when Ali-Ariza and Quinn began selling the jewelry to them on Sept. 10.

Plaistow police were tipped off by store workers when the couple returned with more jewelry and silver to sell on Sept. 28.
