Burgess BioPower turbine arrives on site in Berlin

BERLIN - The turbine for the Burgess BioPower plant in Berlin arrived a few minutes later than expected this morning, but that didn't dampen the spirits of those who had been waiting a long time for this moment.

Mayor Paul Grenier of Berlin and Alex Ritchie, managing director of Cate Street Capital, were all smiles as they looked down at the construction site Wednesday morning. Both called the arrival of the turbine "a milestone."

Traffic, and the transporter, were held up for about 45 minutes Wednesday morning when the turbine snagged utilty lines across Route 16 in Gorham shortly before 8 a.m. That brought the transporter, and the safety vehicles ahead and behind it, to a halt.

Public Service of New Hampshire workers were able to pull the sagging wires up once they arived on scene, getting the caravan back in motion. By 8:46 a.m. the transport, and those waiting in traffic, were on their way.
