LONDONDERRY - A Merrimack man was arraigned in Derry District Court Wednesday morning, charged with robbing Citizens Bank in Londonderry Tuesday afternoon.

Londonderry Police arrested Jason Enwright on unrelated charges just over an hour after the robbery occurred. Citizens Bank, 42 Nashua Road, Londonderry, was robbed shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Londonderry Police promptly responded to the scene, along with members of the Derry Police Department and the State Police K-9 unit. Police left the scene just after 5:30 p.m., though the suspect remained at large. Around 5:40 p.m., Londonderry Police arrested Enwright on an unrelated bench warrant dating to November of 2011.

Police say surveillance photos taken during the robbery match the appearance of Enwright: a scruffy, white male between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9 wearing a baggy sweatshirt and black hat. Police said no weapon was shown during the incident, though they say one was "implied."

The robber allegedly left the bank in a white SUV with around $1,500 in cash after passing the teller a note demanding money. The bank was immediately closed, and police said there were very few customers inside at the time of the incident. About an hour later, police located a Chevy Blazer without a front plate in the parking lot of the nearby Route 102 gas station.

Enwright faces charges of robbery, theft, resisting arrest, civil assault and two counts of criminal threatening after he reportedly argued with officers attempting to arrest him. They said he spit at and threatened three police officers at Parkland Medical Center later that evening.

According to court documents, Enwright has had multiple run-ins with the law over the years, including previous arrests on charges of assault, receiving stolen property, larceny and theft by deception. Bail was set at $50,000 cash concurrent on three instances, with his bench warrant bail set at $500 cash. Enwright is scheduled to appear in 9th Circuit Court, Merrimack District Division, on Dec. 13.
