NH's Day to join Addazio as BC OC
Boston College made it official Wednesday by introducing Steve Addazio as its new football coach. Not surprisingly, he's also bringing a familiar face with him to The Heights.
Addazio said Manchester native Ryan Day will be the new offensive coordinator for the Eagles, filling the same role he did for Addazio this year at Temple University.
Day spent five years as the wide receivers coach at Boston College before joining Addazio's staff this season. His ties to Addazio go back to 2005 when he was a graduate offensive assistant coach at the University of Florida and Addazio was the offensive coordinator.
Day, a former star quarterback at Central High, began his coaching career at his alma mater, the University of New Hampshire, as tight ends coach in 2002, a year after completing a record-setting career with the Wildcats.
The announcement was made official during a press conference to introduce Addazio,
"I'm honored, I'm humbled, I'm excited, I'm determined," Addazio said. "You are going to get the best out of Steve Addazio, my family, my staff and my program. I'm proud to be a Boston College Eagle and I won't let you down.
"I've got drive and I've got energy and I've got a love and passion for what I do for these student athletes and for Boston College."
Addazio comes to BC after compiling a 13-11 record at Temple the last two years. A veteran of 26 coaching seasons, Addazio coached under Urban Meyer at Florida from 2005-2010.
"This is place I've always wanted to be, and I explained that to Temple," said Addazio. "These opportunities to get to where you want to be don't come that easily."
